2014 District Art Show

"Rustic Beauty"
8th grader Sarah Jane edged out the competition with her colorful watercolor of abstracted flowers to win LCMS's school entry into the Meridian School District Art Show this year.  Sarah Jane won a special award at last night's awards reception and will have her artwork displayed at the Eagle Chamber of Commerce throughout the upcoming year.

Congratulations to all of the student artists who competed this year!  As you can see from the display of entries shown below, we have a lot of talent at Lewis & Clark!

Q4 XTime: Recycled Art

Have you ever thought about spending XTime in ART???

Now that Lewis and Clark has moved away from 3-week X-Blocks and towards quarter-long blocks, the kinds of projects we can do as well as the amount of time we have to spend on those projects has greatly improved.

My current group of students are working on projects that re-use materials to create something new.  Here is the display of magazine collage animal silhouettes we just completed.  We will also be making owls using CD's and old machine parts, vessels using old magazines, and much more!

6th Grade Art Club - Minion Mural

Spring 2014 - Minion Mural
6th graders participating in Art Club spent three weeks this winter during an XTime block to complete a public art work that is currently on display in the LCMS cafeteria.  It was created with watercolor and Sharpie marker using a grid-technique to ensure proportions were accurate. I am so proud of their hard work!

Side Note:  A big thanks goes out to Mrs. Dobson's 8th grade TA's:  Jared E. measured out the background, and Sarah Jane S. completed missing and unfinished grid squares as well as assembled and hung the mural!!!  Thank You!
